NARRATIVE ACCOUNT OF CAREER
Ecuadorian artist, activist and cultural promoter working with photo, time–based media, sound and public interventions. Did studies in Ecuador, Cuba and Sweden. From November 2013- to March 2015, Director at Contemporary Arts Center in Quito, Ecuador. Currently Cultural Secretary at Istituto Italo Lationamericano, Rome.
Jijon’s work deals with human mobility in migratory contexts, geopolitics, territories, borders, hence it is based on mutual exchange and collaboration with grassroots groups and organizations. Has attended various workshops on social and urban interventions with Michelangelo Pistoletto’s Cittadellarte Foundation; co-curator at CEROINSPIRACION arte+residencias, artist-run space in Quito, Ecuador. Has also taken part in filmmaking projects regarding foreign communities in Italy, Roma children, youth street organizations, and the UN Women Campaign, Women’s Letters (cartas de mujeres), against gender violence.
Member of the research team of FLACSO (Facultad Latinoamericana de Ciencias Sociales _ Ecuador) on youth street organizations were coordinated video and documentary production.
